Call for Applications: Postdoctoral Position for Anillo Project ACT210096

The Anillo Project ACT210096 funded by the National Agency for Research and Development – ANID, calls for a public call for a postdoctoral researcher position.

1. GOAL

Provide a postdoctoral research position within the framework of the ACT210096 Anillo Project.

2. GENERAL BACKGROUND

The project seeks to develop statistical and machine learning methodologies and their use in brain health data.

3. POSTDOCTORAL POSITION

We are looking for a PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Machine Learning, Data Science or related sciences, with experience in methodologies for longitudinal data analysis using parametric or semi-parametric models, as well as classification methods for longitudinal data.

4. REQUIREMENTS

a. Chilean or foreign nationality with legal residence in Chile and domiciled in Chile at the time of starting work.
b. Be in possession of the academic degree of Doctor in accredited national programs or their foreign equivalents, in any of the disciplines mentioned in point 3.
c. Hold academic credentials equivalent to those required for the FONDECYT postdoctoral competition, according to the conditions of the 2023 competition, and commit to apply for the 2024 FONDECYT Postdoctoral Competition.
d. Handling of programming languages such as Python and/or R.
e. Proficiency in English at least in writing and reading..
f. People who have participated in the IR categories in Fondecyt Regular or Initiation projects are not eligible to apply..

5. BENEFITS AND TERMS

a. Monthly grant: $1,924,000.- Chilean pesos, gross (full time of 44 hours per week, not including social security and tax payments, which will be the responsibility of the postdoctoral fellow). The method of payment will be through a fee agreement with Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez.
b. Duration: The postdoctoral position will be awarded for a maximum period of 12 months; renewable upon approval by the Project Director.
c. Place of performance: The main place of work will be the Peñalolén Campus in the Metropolitan Region and/or Viña del Mar of the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. The postdoctoral fellow should be willing to carry out research activities and/or stays in institutions associated with the project, and if necessary, in other Chilean or foreign universities.
d. The postdoctoral fellow should perform research activities, including writing scientific articles, dissemination activities to academic (presentation of results in national and international scientific meetings) and non-academic audiences, both in person and virtually, preparation of research projects, and assistance in the training of undergraduate and graduate students.

6. CRITERIA AND SELECTION PROCESS

a. Compliance with all requirements.
b. Demonstration of experience and advanced knowledge in the methodologies described in point 3, which will be evaluated by a selection committee composed of the principal investigators of the ring project.
c. Ability to integrate into work teams, being able to assume a collaborative role with the team in general, and leadership in the training of undergraduate and graduate students.
d. Scientific productivity, defined by the number and impact of publications. Publications derived from their doctoral thesis will be considered particularly relevant.
e. Gender equity will be considered for the selection of the postdoctoral candidate. In the event that there are two or more qualified applicants for the postdoctoral position based on the evaluation by the Selection Committee, the minority gender will be offered the position first.

7. APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

b. Updated curriculum vitae in extenso.
c. Original or legalized copy of the doctorate degree certificate, as well as of the degree and/or undergraduate degree.
d. At least two letters of recommendation issued by academics from Chilean or foreign universities.
e. The background will be reviewed and evaluated by the members of the selection committee integrated by the principal investigators of the project: Rolando de la Cruz, Claudia Duran-Aniotz, Agustín Ibáñez, Moreno Bevilacqua and Gonzalo Ruz. The pre-selected individuals will be called for an interview. The decision of the selection committee is final and the background information submitted to the committee will not be returned to the applicants, except for the original academic documents.

8. RELEVANT DATES

a. Deadline for submission of background information: December 26, 2022.
b. Background check and interviews: December 27-28, 2022.
c. Closure of the competition and communication of results: December 29 to 30, 2022.
d. Beginning of the position: January 01, 2023.
